1. Start with a text or a phone call. Ask specific questions like β€œHow are you really feeling?” Or β€œHow can I support you?”

3. Recognize and validate their feelings (whatever they are feeling is valid)!

5. Refrain from responding with β€œDon’t worry.” Instead try β€œI’m always here for you.” Or β€œHow can I help?” Don’t try to make everything better - try to understand.
