Mario Monday: Goomba stack!
Mario Monday! For your amusement today, a very silly video of the kind of stunt Rader would certainly have attempted in Super Mario Odyssey.
I dreamed about Rader last night, which hardly ever happens. And I don't remember any details of the dream except the very most important one: he was happy.

#chatsafe helps us talk safely online about suicide
Did you know that how you talk about suicide on social media can have an effect on vulnerable people? Thankfully we can all learn best practices with #chatsafe.
Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health in Australia, has studied the topic and released a set of guidelines for young people and those who support them, such as parents, teachers, and mental health professionals.
This online brochure includes a clickable flow chart on page 4 to direct you to the information that most applies to your situation.
Thanks to the Jed Foundation for including #chatsafe in the suicide prevention article I posted earlier this week.

ULifeline and the Self Evaluator: protecting college students' mental health
I'm sad to report that today I heard news of a suicide at my surviving child's university, another tragic loss of a young person's life. So it's all the more urgent for me to share about ULifeline (a great online resource for college mental health) and their Self Evaluator.
"Developed by Duke University Medical Center, the Self Evaluator is a screening program designed to help students uncover whether they, or a friend, are at risk for depression, suicide, and several other disorders, including alcohol and drug dependence, eating disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder."—from the ULifeline website
The student accessing the online evaluator will first select their school, and then ULifeline immediately provides contact information for specific mental health resources available at that school.
ULifeline is supported by The Jed Foundation, a nonprofit public charity whose mission is to prevent suicide among college students and enhance mental health support on campuses nationwide.
Please share this important tool with your college student. The Self Evaluator can help them determine if they or a friend need to seek mental health support, and direct them to it right on campus.
The Rader Ward Foundation is committed to promoting mental health and suicide prevention resources.

Mario Monday: Super Mario Super Art Show
Mario Monday! Last month at a gallery in New York, there was a Super Mario Super Art Show featuring some very interesting artwork. My taste definitely leans toward the traditional. Here's one of my favorite pieces (by Kevan Hom) but you can also see the entire archive.

families for depression awareness
Sharing a new resource today, Families for Depression Awareness. Their website is full of helpful information—more than I can describe—from family stories to an expansive list of books and memoirs, including many I hadn't heard of before. They've been added to the resource page, which I am always expanding as I discover new sites and organizations.
Terrible, Thanks for Asking® | APM Podcasts
Have you wondered, as I have, "What is a suicidal person thinking?" Or would you like to have more empathy toward those who are struggling, whether with thoughts of suicide, having survived a suicide attempt, or having lost someone to suicide?
Today, as we are nearing the end of National Suicide Prevention Month, I want to share a podcast episode in which I heard genuine, real, raw thoughts on suicide I haven't heard voiced anywhere else in quite the same way. If you’re concerned about someone you love, please listen to this!
Terrible, Thanks for Asking is "a funny/sad/uncomfortable podcast about talking honestly about our pain, our awkwardness, and our humanness," according to its host, widow Nora McInerny.
Start with Episode #48, but I'm also including a link to part 2 (#49), which begins by highlighting #BeThe1To, and then includes more personal stories.
