Mario Monday: Todayβs post might look familiar β I posted something very similar before! But it was called to my attention that the person I thought was the originator actually stole it from the creator and cropped out the watermark. BOO! Bad form. So I unfollowed the bad guy, deleted the post, and am sharing the original in all its glory, with the full shots and additional views the thief didnβt show.

Thanks to @8bitfellow for letting me know and pointing me to the very talented @captaindangerous.

I wish I had known to ask Rader the question: Are you thinking of suicide? I believed the myth that talking openly about suicide could put ideas in a personβs head.
β’
But studies show that asking at-risk individuals if they are suicidal does not increase suicides or suicidal thoughts. In fact, studies say the opposite: findings suggest acknowledging and talking about suicide may reduce, rather than increase, suicidal ideation.
β’
If you aren't sure how to bring it up, the Jed Foundation and Ad Council collaborated on an excellent series of conversation starters and videos called Seize the Awkward. Check them out for ideas.
β’
Be the one to ASK.

With news yesterday of an apparent suicide on my college student's campus, it's time to share ULifeline (a great online resource for college mental health) and the Self Evaluator again. From the ULifeline website:
"The Self Evaluator was developed for ULifeline by Duke University School of Medicine and screens for thirteen of the most common mental health conditions that college students face. This screening does not provide a diagnosis, but identifies problems that could be impacting thoughts, feelings and behaviors. The screening process also provides information on these conditions and how to reach out for help."
The student taking the free screening enters the name of their school, so they will be directed to the appropriate local resources.
ULifeline is a free service for colleges and universities and is supported by The Jed Foundation - JED, a nonprofit public charity whose mission is to prevent suicide among college students and enhance mental health support on campuses nationwide.
Sad news of an apparent suicide on my surviving child's college campus. Please make sure your college students know about this free #mentalhealth resource supported by the @jedfoundation. #suicideprevention #collegementalhealth https://t.co/jXR81bcGBR
